The Scout was designed to be the ideal transmitter for the Short wing Hawker, combining range, compact size, long battery life, and low cost. It achieves a critically tuned short 7-inch antenna without the power loss associated with simply shortening an antenna, a capability unique to Marshall. For larger birds such as Harris' Hawks, Goshawks, and Redtail Hawks, the Scout serves as an ideal leg mount thanks to its lightweight build and short antenna. It features a generous Bewit slot at the top and a flat, smooth case on both sides. It can also be ordered as a neck mount. When ordered as a tail mount, the Scout comes with a small spring attached to the bottom of the case, held in place by three tiny machined retention posts. It is also compatible with a TrackPack. The Bewit slot remains on the case so the transmitter can be used as a leg mount temporarily if needed. The Scout provides up to 30 days of battery life, rivaling research transmitters, but without the trade-off of reduced power output. It is the first non-research, very long life, professionally packaged higher power transmitter designed for birds.
